Slippery After being up much of the night nursing my feeble Planetarion galaxy, I had to get up early to get the comics. How unfair that the real world doesn't stop while your planet is under attack! I walked outside to discover, to my surprise, that it was snowing. Usually once you get to March in this part of the world you think you are safe from the slings and arrows of Old Man Winter. Wrong again! This snow really didn't seem to be sticking, so I really wasn't concerned. The streets seemed to be mainly clear. However, once I actually got on the road, I changed my assessment. The roads seemed to be much more slippery than they appeared. Sure enough, I was no more than four blocks from my house before I saw my first accident. A dark blue sedan had rear-ended a gray sedan. The rear of the gray car looked rather askew, but the car seemed drivable. On the other hand, the front end of the blue car looked pretty badly smashed. It was clear that this car wasn't going anywhere soon. It took quite a while to drive around this little mishap. Instead of getting upset at the delay, I decided to pretend that this was an educational show put on for my benefit. It was slippery, and I should not be in a hurry. Extreme caution should be used. As I was finally driving past the accident, the driver of the gray car was standing in front of her vehicle with a frown on her face. Her posture and expression seemed to be saying: "I-DO-NOT-NEED-THIS-SHIT-TODAY!!" It seemed that I wasn't the only one who had gotten the message. Most of the way to Latham the traffic was creeping. That was fine with me. Better creeping than careening all over the road. As long as everything seemed to take, by the time I was almost back to the store, they were only just towing away the blue car with the smashed front end.
