Pudge's Children Alas, it looks like I have struck out. No litters of baby hamsters are forthcoming. Drat. So, not only does this mean that the line of gray hamsters is coming to an end, but it means that the line of hamsters related to Pudge the Hamster is ending, too. Is it weird of me to keep bloodlines running like that? I was hoping to get another hamster as smart as Pudge, but except for her children, Flea and Uberhamster, that hasn't really happened. I always had hamsters as a kid, but I generally only had one store-bought hamster at a time. When I got into middle school and high school I started breeding them, but I let them die out when I went away to college. However, early in 1980 I got interested in hamsters again and started breeding them again. I even took my hamsters to college with me for a time. All the hamsters I had in the house were related to those hamsters I bought in 1980 until 1995, when their family tree reached a dead end. I had a bunch of hamsters that couldn't seem to reproduce. They were gray, of course. So, I bought a pair of hamsters from a pet store and started again. That's where Pudge and her children came from. Right now I'm going to keep trying with Pooka (store-bought) and Smallfry, and with Buddy (store-bought) and Ince. If nothing happens soon, there's always breeding Pooka with Buddy. And life goes on.
