Stupid!

As I've mentioned before my real job is running a comic book store and one of the jobs associated with that is picking up the new comics shipments at the UPS hub on Wednesday morning. The reasons why I have to this are pretty simple - if I don't get up at the crack of dawn to get the comics myself, UPS probably wouldn't deliver them to us until mid-afternoon, and that would be a bad thing, trust me.

So today I get up at 7:30 and check my email. Every week Diamond emails me the UPS package tracking numbers, and they are very useful in checking to make sure I've got the right number of boxes, and so on. I check my email, and there's no tracking numbers. That's odd. Well, Diamond has screwed up before. That's no big surprise.

So I drag my sleepy carcass over to the UPS hub, and I get another surprise. My comics aren’t there! The dispatcher I usually talk to is pretty amused to see me. You see, due to Good Friday last week all the packages are a day later. This week the comics won't be in until Thursday. D'oh! Why didn't someone tell me?

When I get back to the store I check and, sure enough, Diamond had informed us that the comics were going to be a day late. Checking my old ledgers I see that this was also the case in 2000 and 1999. I'm starting to see a trend here: Good Friday ALWAYS makes the comics one day late. Hopefully I'll remember that next year.

But what this means is that I got myself out of bed early and drove to the UPS hub for nothing. Moreover, I'm going to have to do it all over again tomorrow when the new comics REALLY come in.

And now, I'm going to indulge in a little comic book swearing.

#@$#%&!!@&%?$??!!!!
