Hail to the Thief

Sigh.

Why is it every time I'm forced to say the words "President Bush" I feel as if I've just taken a bite of something rancid? Yuck.

I have a feeling that it's going to be a very tedious four years listening to the news, hearing about what ol' Dubya has been up to.

For instance, today, on the anniversary of the Roe Vs. Wade Supreme Court decision, he cut a bunch of family planning funding. If memory serves me correctly that this funding is one of the first things that Bill Clinton passed after he was inaugurated in 1993. So The Shrub managed to prove that he's a vindictive little man with a long memory. Lovely.

And then there's his putative Attorney General, John Ashcroft, who reminds me of Edwin Meese, Reagan's horrid suppressor of civil liberties. Watch the first amendment take another couple of hits under this guy's term of office.

Not to mention the guy himself. He can't really be as big a fumbler as he appears, can he? I'm going to chalk much of it up to the press not liking Bush the Younger, but the evidence is starting to pile up that we've stepped in a cow-pie.

Mainly because of Planetarion, I'm in a number of chatrooms where the population is mainly European. Whenever the subject of Bush Junior comes up, oh the mockery that happens. This guy is the laughingstock of the world and sometimes I'm put in the very uncomfortable position of having to defend our electoral processes and its unfortunate result this time. The hell of it is, I agree with them but I'll be damned if I'll admit it.

So it looks like I'm going to have to treat the Bush Administration like an episode of flatulence - I'll just have to hold my breath and wait for it to go away.
